Mark McKergow

Dr Mark McKergow is a consultant and trainer specialising in accelerated learning, management development solution focused change. His skill and enthusiasm have led to successful results in over 250 assignments. He now devotes himself to developing Solutions Focus work with organistions.

A full-time consultant since1992, Mark McKergow has a wealth of experience in the application of solutions focus and accelerated learning methods in business. He has presented in Europe, North America, the former Soviet Union, Australia & New Zealand, South Africa and Singapore. Recent clients include Shell, Procter & Gamble, British Nuclear Fuels, Ashridge Management College and Imperial College London.

Mark is a skilful practitioner in using solution focused change models and programmes with organisations. He is a pioneer in the use of these methods in the organisational context - his book ‘The Solutions Focus: the SIMPLE Way to Positive Change’ (co-authored with Paul Z Jackson) was published by Nicholas Brealey in 2002 and declared one of the year’s top 30 business books in the USA.

Mark has been using accelerated learning methods in his own work since 1990, and is now one of the UK’s most sought-after speakers and consultants in the field. A recent project with British Nuclear Fuels has resulted in the saving of over $1000 per learner per week in a suite of technical training courses.

Following a doctoral degree, Mark began his career as a physicist in the electricity generation industry, where he held management positions in production (in nuclear power stations) and headquarters settings. Mark went on to manage the training aspects of business performance improvement and cultural change.

Mark writes for journals and other publications on management development topics. He is a member of the Strategic Planning Society, the Association for Management Education and Development, the Association of MBAs, the Association for NLP, the Society for Effective Affective Learning (SEAL), the International Alliance for Learning (IAL) and the Professional Speakers Association. He has presented many conferences around the world. He is also a jazz saxophonist (his jazz orchestra UltraSound attracted backing from the Arts Council of England and recorded 2 CDs), and he acted as Deputy Leader of the SIM-phone-ya Orchestra, the world’s first mobile phone ensemble, at the Cheltenham International Festival in 2002.
