The magic of this course is a combination of various elements. Key amongst these are the physical and spiritual warmth of Kerala, and the beach and backwaters of Cherrai, one of the most friendly and welcoming of places I have ever visited; the powerful examples of commitment to excellence of the many exemplars we had the good fortune to meet both on and off the formal course; and the close kinship we all, the trainers and learners, forged together. Sue and her fellow trainers exemplified the best principle of education: drawing out from each of us the knowledge and truth that resides within.
Starting each day listening as the chatter of the birds and the splash of the waves providing the background music to the hypnotic language of swamiji leading our morning yoga, "Relaxing your neck, relaxing your neck... your neck and shoulders are completely relaxed". Walking in our Indian companions' moccasins, enjoying the additional element of touch and feel by eating the subtly spiced, deliciously fresh Kerala food using fingers alone. Observing the responsiveness and awareness of bus and car drivers, motorcyclists and bicyclists and pedestrians flowing along narrow roads. Being infected by the hospitality and welcoming of the spontaneous smiles of the staff and villagers around the resort and their eager curiosity. "What is your good name?", "Where do you come from?", "Do you have children?" All these are as important as lessons in NLP as the classes ad workshops.
I am my best learning through experience, doing, testing and taking risks, getting feedback and trying again. The approach of this NLP training was exactly right for me. No dry technical notes, no lists of techniques, no manuals to be read and regurgitated. Sue's method is to constantly and accurately calibrate, then respond to the moment, the needs and the abilities of all her students. The team of assistants (Ashok, Arul, Anand, Colin) move unobtrusively and seamlessly between participating and teaching and sharing in all the daily life of the course: no us and them, no hierarchies or cliques. Methodologies and constructs are embedded through demonstration and practice.
Without question this is the best and most influential two weeks of training of any kind that I have enjoyed.
