Has Sue got a good memory? — Michael Cummins — Wednesday, January 07, 2004

Hi Sue - you may be thinking that name rings a bell. Or it may mean absolutely nothing at all. Either way, yours is very memorable to me. I was the young receptionist at the Grange Hotel in Grange over Sands who left to go travelling. You used to come and stay with us regularly with your BNFL courses. I read something over the holidays which jogged my memory and I took it upon myself to look for your website. I remember your logo clearly and how you explained the box represents the barriers that people put round themselves from time to time. I have drawn on that from time to time when facing challenges.

I have looked through your website and your journal - its nice to see you still keep up your vigorous exercise regime. I remember your early morning jogs round Grange. I was curious to see if I would find Charles Tennant, Nic Smith, Lorraine Calland or Conrad Potts on your personalities page. I also congratulate you on your achievements and your publications.

I am still sort of in the hotel industry. I am a partner in a venue finding agency based in Preston (you may like to check out our website www.venuebooking.com ) and my life is enriched by my beautiful wife and 6 year old twins (a boy and a girl) who keep us very busy.

I am pleased that you are well and I send you my very best wishes for 2004. Sorry that its not more of a challenging question!!

Sue's Answer

Dear Michael,

I have indeed got a long memory either that or you made a lasting imprint on it. How lovely to hear from you and to hear that you are well and happy. I am currently in France with my husband where we have a house. We are travelling back to the UK tomorrow. Gosh it is a long time since we were in Grange and of the people that you mention I still work and am close friends with Lorraine Calland. I did see Conrad not too long ago and he is doing well and is happy. We had some good times up at the Grange Hotel. Do you ever hear of James Alexander and how he is doing?

And I see you are in the venue finding business - that might just be what we are looking for right now. I have spent some time in Liverpool since my Mum died a few months ago and am thinking about doing something maybe a conference as part of their culture capital status that they will have in 2008. I am quite picky when it comes to venues you might have seen details of ours on our website?

Anyway if you have any ideas for that I would be very interested. But apart from that my very best wishes to you and your family for 2004 and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Warmest wishes,

Sue
