Sue's Introduction
Laughter is carbonated holiness. Anne Lamott (author of Bird by Bird and someone who can make me laugh with her writing)
There have been a few significant exemplars in my life. They are people who have profoundly influenced both the way that I work and the way that I approach my life. One of these exemplars is Frank Farrelly master of Provocative Therapy. I first experienced Frank 18 years ago and I have been modelling (using an NLP term) ever since. His ability to enable us to laugh at our issues and thereby change the way that we experience them is astonishing. Laughter is increasingly recognised as a powerful source of healing resources. When we laugh something happens in our brain and we release new chemicals into our blood stream.. chemicals that support us to think differently and experience differently than before.
Sadly this last year Frank became very ill and is unable to travel and deliver his infamous coaching sessions. Thank goodness I have had all the years to study what he does – what I have learnt from him has become an integral part of my own style and I have found my own way with the learning.. so this year I am running a one day event (apart from the many conference sessions that I give on this topic) to share this learning with you. The day will be practical and you will have the chance to study Frank on one of the many videos that I have of him in action. I will demonstrate the approach but more importantly you will get the chance to learn how to use this for yourself..
There is a chapter in my book NLP at Work 3rd edition on Coaching with Humour if you want to know more about how I have developed this work for use in business and life.
